Becker: USA, France and Britain support Syrian opposition, UN Security Council controlled by these powers
WASHINGTON– The National coordinator for the ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) Coalition, Brian Becker considered the USA, France and Britain efforts to issue a UN resolution on Syria hinder the Syrian government’s real efforts to make reforms in the country.
In an interview with Russia Today TV Channel, Becker said that the three countries support what is called the Syrian opposition, adding that the West, particularly USA, France and Britain, has employed delegitimization tactic and the United Nations to condemn certain governments which puts more pressure on Syria and encourages opposition including the armed opposition.
The anti-war activist added that the USA ruled out military intervention in Syria and insisted on that it won’t follow what France and Britain did in Libya but it wants to send a message of support to the opposition to continue.
Becker pointed out that Russia and China, as veto-wielding members at the UN Security Council, took a firm stance against any UN resolution condemning Syria.
He concluded that the UN Security Council appeared to be controlled by certain powers such as the USA, France and Britain.
