Medvedev renews his opposition of any international resolution against Syria
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has reiterated Russia’s rejection of any international resolution against Syria.
During his visit to Germany on Tuesday, Medvedev said that “Russia opposes any steps by the international community against Syria that could lead to making it another Libya.
“We would not like events in Syria to evolve according to the Libyan scenario. This is exactly why Russia has taken quite a reserved stance at the UN Security Council,” Medvedev said.
He pointed out that he and the German Chancelor Angela Merkel had discussed the situation in Syria.
“We are looking for possible options to send messages to both sides in Syria; to the Syrian leadership in order to implement the promised reforms and to the opposition in order not to protest only but to provide constructive solutions,” Medvedev said.
